Sevilla supporters update | Rangers Football Club

Last Friday, representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt, Rangers FC and Football Supporters Europe (FSE) met to debrief and discuss several significant organizational issues during the recent UEFA Europa League final in Seville.

These issues could easily have led to even more serious problems on the night and it was only thanks to the calm and mutual respect of both sets of fans that there were no more serious injuries. All three parties applaud the remarkable composure of both fanbases, given the situation they faced.

Besides the severe lack of food and – even more critical with soaring temperatures – water, there were several organizational problems regarding policing, body searches and beyond. Both clubs, as well as the FSE, have received a huge amount of complaints and testimonials from fans in the stadium.

The three parties will now work together to report to UEFA and local public authorities in Spain, and make recommendations to ensure that these issues never happen again in a European final.

Fans spend a great deal of effort, time and money following their teams across Europe and expect to be treated with respect and dignity when attending football matches. This expectation was not at all fulfilled in the Europa League final in Sevilla.
