TURLOCK, Calif. (AP) – A California Highway Patrol investigator looking for a freeway shooting suspect was shot and injured Thursday night in the Central Valley of California and an extensive search was underway for the one of the two attackers, authorities said.
Ten blocks from Turlock were cordoned off and officers from various law enforcement agencies across Stanislaus County were looking for the suspect, Turlock Police Captain Steve Williams told a conference. evening press.

CHP investigators were investigating a freeway shooting that occurred Wednesday night and on Thursday found what they believed to be the suspect’s car along High Street in Turlock, Williams said.
As they approached, someone started shooting at them, Williams said.
They retaliated and the attacker fled, but moments later a second person fired several shots, injuring a CHP investigator, who was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening wound. in danger, Williams said.
Other investigators grabbed and arrested the first shooter, who was not injured, Williams said.
